Xàtiva castle in Spain

In eastern Spain, just half an hour (or may be bit more) by train from Valencia, in the valley between mountains situates small town Xàtiva. It was one of our daily train trips - it's great way exploring countries and in Spain, trains are not expensive too. So that how the found Xàtiva. And the we just went for the highest peak, which happened to have a castle build on the top.
Strange, but there were just few people around, entrance was around 1 euro or so (for us, posing as students). Another thing was, that most of the people who were there, painted pictures. Huh. Good thing we had a camera, so I didn't have to draw these!

Well, way up is a bit.. well.. long. It gets even longer in summer.

And if we look back...

At last! We are near the top! I am not sure what used to be in this cave beneath.

I think there are too possibilities, either we arrived at artist convention, or this town has lots of talent!

To have a park inside the castle is always nice, I guess.

View from one side...

...And the other.

A Look from the northern tower - there can be seen parts of old castle wall too.
More photos in the gallery above. Visit this town if you have a chance!
