Photo tale from Romania
"Not in a galaxy far far away" | in: Romania Ukraine trip | comments: ON
I just came to me that I did not share photos for some time - here we go, this time trip to center of Romania, in the middle of Transylvania, where vampires and bears feast in the middle of the city and prey on tourists..

Actually, the trip was pretty fun - it is very beautiful land with proud people and no bears (ok, maybe there are some, because we saw something that COULD be a footprint of the bear, but nothing else :) and no vampires.

Nice evening in Poland, next day we move to Ukrainian border.

4 hours long queue at the borders.

Lada's are carrying old fridges from Poland.. God knows why, perhaps to make a bear trap.

Romania! Here we stayed couple of days - couchsurfing.

A huge dam near on our way to center of Romania.

Let's go for a swim! Wait... What's that, let's look closer..

Oh come on.. Same as in Bosnia, polluted lake. Sometimes I really hate humanity.

But let's look to the other side, away from the problem, maybe it will disappear. When you don't know it, doesn't hurt right?

Yes, it's beautiful here.. But again that lake.. This road goes from Georgheni if I am not mistaken, through Hargita mountains.

Sighisoara - old and beautiful town.

..And half empty old town in hot day.

Great illustration of what may word "Transylvania" might look like.

After cities it was great to to some hiking, this is Carpathian forest in it's best on early morning.

Also, air here is.. different? Full of oxygen, so refreshing that head starts spinning.

We got to the top!

But of course, not alone. They say this mountain is somewhat sacred place for Hungarians. Did you know, that there are some counties in Transylvania where most people are actually Hungarians ethnicity, not Romanian? (also thanks for clarifying this to me, Ion :))

And this is very common view. There are horse-drawn carts everywhere.

We're in Brasov - very nice city infact. Also, it is well know because there are so many bears in this region, that they come to the city just to go through garbage. We didn't see them :)

Gate to the city.

Here we moved further - Sinaia, Peles castle. Perhaps I will add another post dedicated just to this castle, it is very beautiful and must see in Romania,

Old monastery in Sinaia.

Mountains near Sinaia, Buscegi town. If you have spare time you can get there by cable car, but the queue was too long for us.. We had to turn back..

This view is also very common. I guess they really like good TV reception.

Misty roads on the way back.

And all blurred into the night..

Alright then. Lada it is :) And guess we happened to be in county (Hargita) where Hungarians are majority. Here they spoke in Hungarian in shops, in markets - anywhere we met.

The blue car with a fridge is not a Dacia, it is a Lada ;)

In Transylvania - 2002
74,7% Romanians
19,6% Hungarians

There are 16 counties in Transylvania, only in 3 of these there are more Hungarians than Romanians.
